"Every year for Christmas we got some piece of sport equipment. Here we are with our snow shoes. They are good for going over deep snow. But that is hard work. Unless you are very used to them, you are always stepping on one or the other. I didn't like them! Mount Mansfield should show in this picture just beyond that square house. On the upper left just barely showing is our school. It was for grades 1 to 12. High school rooms were upstairs except home economics, which was on the first floor. In those years it was thought to be good to have your toncils out. Doctors and nurses came to our village & used the home ec. room as an operating room. Steve and I were done."

Beck added:

"The year we got ice skates we had a warm winter. The year we go roller skates we had lots of snow."
