Sally - Ship for those "foreign protestants" recruited to resettle in Lunenburg Nova Scotia, sailed from Rotterdam in 1752. These passengers were predominantly Huguenots from Principauté de Montbéliard, Saint-Empire Romain Germanique. Today part of France, it was at the time of these migrations under rule of the dukes of Württemberg. It has been for centuries one of the few Protestant enclaves in today's France.
- Date of Sailing: May 30, 1752
- No. Passanger Left Rotterdam: 258
- No. Passenger Arrived in Halifax: 213
- Landed at Halifax on 6 September 1752
It had a very lengthy and difficult voyage to Nova Scotia resulting in the high mortality rate (40 passengers died on route). The voyage took about 14 weeks, longer than normal as a result of encountering violent westerly gales. One of the passengers who died was the Captain.
After arriving in Halifax Harbour all of the passengers were held on board for another three weeks. Eventually they were disembarked and billetted in Halifax for the winter in hastily built board barracks. In the spring of 1753 the immigrants from the previous year were moved to Lunenburg.
