Glen Robbins was a "company town" built by the Youghiogheny & Ohio Coal Co. (AKA Y & O Coal Co.) around 1920 to house the workers of their Dorothy and Budd mines. The town was named after Mr. S.H. Robbins, president of the Youghiogheny & Ohio Company.
