Old GED downloads

Question

When a GEDCOM has been downloaded and is over 10 years old and you can't access it as with Alexander-1553 there should be no messages to say it needs to edited etc. and then have it restricted to prevent that happening. I have found this person's spouse and it is a bit annoying not to have the ability to link her to this person. I don't want to know anymore about him but I would like to link him to his spouse Kate Cashman. Details have been added as comments to both profiles.

The issue is the privacy level. For you to be able to edit the privacy level needs to be set to Open. The first step is to contact the profile manager and ask for the level to be changed.

Thank you for your response Kristina. I actually didn't want to interfere with William Ham Alexander's profile, I just wanted to add him as a spouse to the profile I was working on, however because of the intricacies of the system I can't do that. I will just leave the information as a comment in both profiles.

I suggest you create the profile for the wife, add sources and it can be connected to the husband William's profile later using the WikiTree ID of William Ham Alexander.
