I thought after glancing at the recent comments on his profile that he should be acknowledged for his works in this community and definitely to honour him and that he has moved on

Oh dear, worked closely with Gene on our mutual family though we had our closest connection in Adkins-431 (1720-1794.) It never occurred to be that I'd have to "meet" him on the other side, somehow thought it would be at a WikiTree gathering. Rest in peace, my friend and cousin.

Very sad to see this. I have seen Gene's contributions here numerous times. He will be missed greatly on WikiTree. My prayers and thoughts go out to his loved ones.

Thanks Richard,   I am so shocked to hear of Gene's death.    He asked me to look after his watchlist while he was moving house a couple of years ago.   He was such a lovely person and I shall miss him.   Rest in Peace dear friend.

Wow - sometimes you know people only through WikiTree and then it hits you that we're all related - so very sad to hear of a cousin's passing. I'll keep his family in my prayers and thoughts, and perhaps as a tribute see if there isn't a way I can find a mutual ancestor that I can contribute towards in our shared families.

I was so sad to see this.

I  often 'bumped' into Gene when working on profiles connected with Dorset. He was invariably quick to reply,  always willing to consider alternative information. His replies were always courteous ,kind and friendly.
