Its my family tree worked on by multiple people, a lot is handed down family history, my McClung family have our own genealogists as well as our McClung family ancestry book.

Hi Michelle, Wikitree emphasises finding sources. Whether they are from sites like familysearch.com, books, or the family bible , they are all sources. The difference is that user uploaded trees on other sites are in themselves not sources- they might cite actual sources or give you ideas where to look.

If the source is family records, it is best to name them specifically. You don’t have to scan them in, just note that you possess them.

When it comes to profiles before 1700 the requirement is stricter and pre 1500 is somewhat specialised.

You will be surprised how quickly you will become used to this site and I have found everyone is helpful

Ancestry family trees is a collections of works by many individuals with their own interpretations of the facts. When there are differences it is impossible to decide who is right and who is wrong. Errors creep in. With only one profile per person Wikitree has to try to make decisions between the conflicting stories that have appeared. It's an ongoing process that compels members to hunt out sources, sources and yet more sources then discuss their merits and draw conclusions. Sometimes it can get a bit fraught! However the trend has to be towards accuracy whereas identifying the one perfect tree on Ancestry is impossible.

I have a whole generations of family genealogists, with passed down family history. My Mcclung family have our own family book of our ancestry.

DNA test results are another type of source that can be used; at WikiTree there's a standard procedure for including some basic information about the test (*not* your raw data) to confirm relationships via DNA evidence.  It's a bit complicated but makes the tree that much stronger!  If you search the Help pages for "DNA Confirmation" you can find instructions, or ask here for help.  I see you've checked off the "Confirmed by DNA" button on a lot of your profiles so it looks like you have a lot of good information to add to help build our tree; you just need to add a DNA confirmation statement to each of those profiles.  (You can look at some of my ancestors' profiles if you want to see examples of how it's done.)  Welcome!
