Thomas Gordon Blamey was born on October 24, 1917 in Lake Albert, New South Wales, Australia, son of Richard Henwood Blamey (1875–1933) and Annie Jane Woodlands (1881–1954).[1]
Thomas (22) married Jean May Summerhayes (20) (born in March, 1919 in Ryde, New South Wales; daughter of Claude Walter Trescott Summerhayes and Susan (Norris) Summerhayes) in 1940 in Ryde, New South Wales.[2]
Like his rather more famous namesake uncle, Field Marshall Sir Thomas Blamey, Thomas served in the 2nd Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War, his final posting being with Infantry Reinfocements AIF; enlisted 4th Jul 1940, discharged 3rd September 1945.[3]
Thomas died on July 9, 1988 in Ulladulla, New South Wales, aged 70.
