Parish priest Mr [Joseph-Amable] Trutau [Trutaut]. Tuesday, July 16.

The militia assembled at 8:00 A.M.

Dismissal of Alexandre Dionne, capt., Joseph Boucher, Liet., Alexis Nadeau, ensign, all officers from the First Company commissioned by General Carleton. We have discharged them for reasons that we shall give later.

...last fall, Capt. Alexandre Dionne behaved as a zealous subject of the government. He marched to Pointe Lévy with several young men (including Nadeau) according to orders that he had received to help the town [Quebec], but was unable to cross [the St. Lawrence River] because all the canoes had already been removed by the town’s people. This winter, he marched under the orders of Mr. Beaujeu at the head of more than 30 men from this parish. Since that time, he has had the weakness to carry out the rebels’ orders and had his subordinate officers and sergeants do the same in obedience to Bazil Dubé. In their service, he had signal fires tended and guarded, sent the search party for Mr Riverin’s mare on the orders of Bazil Dubé, and had two letters delivered to pilots on the lower coast. In short, he has done all that he was asked. He is even accused of having pledged a loyalty oath to the said Bazil Dubé. All these reasons considered, we have dismissed him, as well as his subordinates.

Danielle Liard The patriots invaded Canada during 1775-76. While many French Canadians supported the British, many others supported Patriot cause. Joseph Boucher appears to have been one of those people who aupported the Patriots. Looks like a Joseph Boucher was a lieutenant under Captain Alexandre Dionne in the Quebec militia, who supported the continental side.

Can someone please explain how a French Canadian can be considered a Revolutionary war patriot? No indication on the profile that he was in the US.

Boucher-2633 and Boucher-2859 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same, same spouse

There are inconsistent dates in this profile summary. It says that he married before he was born.
