Biography

John was born about 1819 in Isfield, Sussex, England and baptised on the 29th August 1819 at St. Margaret, Isfield, Sussex, England, the son of Henry Diplock[1] (labourer) and Maria Diplock of Isfield[2][3].

John married Lucy Paris on the 14th May 1843 at St. Thomas a Becket, Framfield, Sussex, England. John Diplock, bachelor, labourer of Framfield, son of Henry Diplock (labourer) and Lucy Paris, spinster of Framfield, daughter of William Paris (labourer). Witnessed by James Diplock and Caroline Diplock[1]

John's wife Lucy died in 1859 and was buried on the 7th September 1859 at Holy Cross, Uckfield, Sussex, England[4] and the children were separated, the eldest working as servants and the younger ones being cared for by extended family. Only son Spencer was living with John in 1861. John then married again to Elizabeth Ann Hook in 1861[5].

John's second wife Elizabeth died in 1869[6].

He passed away in 1900 and was buried on the 16th September 1900 at St. Margaret, Isfield, Sussex, England[7].
