Biography

Marion White Fulmer was born in Easton, Northampton, Pennsylvania, on August 6, 1918. She was the daughter of Chester Fulmer and Frances Johnson White.

In 1920 and 1930, she was living with her parents and siblings in Easton, Northampton, Pennsylvania.[1][2] In 1936, the family moved to Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania where they were living in 1940.[3]

Marion began her lifelong association with the YWCA as a teenager. As an undergraduate at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she participated in YWCA undergraduate activities and began training in fieldwork. Marion graduated in June 1940 from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Northampton, Pennsylvania. She then worked as the Youth Director and later the Program Director at the Easton, Pennsylvania YWCA.

At the age of 23, Marion married James Clifford McKeever on July 4, 1942, in Montview Presbyterian Church, Denver, Colorado, when he was 23 years old. They had four children - James Clifford Jr., John Duncan, Elizabeth Marion, and David White, who died in infancy.

In 1950, the couple was living with their two sons in Delaware, Camden, New Jersey, where James was an arranger of choral music in a church.[4]

She moved to Princeton, New Jersey with her husband and children in 1960. During the next nine years, she was a member and later President of the Board of Directors of the Princeton YWCA. She was elected Executive Director in 1969, and led the YWCA in a membership expansion from 2000 to 8000 women and girls. She retired in 1980, and move to Monroe Township, New Jersey soon thereafter.[5]

Marion reached 83 years of age and died in Jamesburg, Middlesex, New Jersey, on July 29, 2002.[6] She was buried at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, Mercer, New Jersey.[7]
