Jemima Jane Gilson was baptised on June 12, 1836 at St Mary's Church in Swaffam Prior, Cambridgeshire, England, daughter of George Gilson and Elizabeth Booty.[1]
He father died when she was three years of age.
At the time of the 1841 census Jemima (age 5) was living with her widowed mother and her uncle in Swaffham Prior[2]

At the time of the 1851 census Jemima (age 16) was living with her mother and her second husband William Pamenter in Swaffham Prior.[3]

On January 19, 1856 Jemima arrived in the Colony of New South Wales as an assisted immigrant aboard the Morayshire.[4] The passenger list recorded that she was 20 years of age, a general servant and that she could both read and write.
Jemima married Thomas Watts in 1859 in Dapto, Colony of New South Wales (see research notes).

When Elizabeth was born in 1861 they were living in Gundagai.
On June 24, 1898 Jemima purchased a property in Sheridan Street, Gundagai.[5]
Jemima died at her home in Sheridan Street, Gundagai on February 9, 1901 from eczema and cancer.[6] She was buried in the North Gundagai Cemetery two days later.[7]
