George Gilson was born in Swaffham Prior, Cambridgeshire, England.
George Gilson was baptised on August 26, 1804 at St Mary in Swaffham Prior, Cambridgeshire, England, son of George Gilson and Ann Unknown.
When he was 24 years of age, George married Elizabeth Booty by banns on February 27, 1829 at St Mary's Church in Swaffham Prior, Cambridgeshire.[1] Both George and Betsey signed the marriage register.
Together they had the following children:

- Frances Gilson (1832 - )
- Jemima Jane Gilson (1836–1901)
George was a shoemaker.[2]
George was buried on September 22, 1839 at St Cyriac & St Julitta in Swaffham Prior, aged 34.[3]
