Biography
Daniel Gilson was born in 1825 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States, son of Abijah Gilson (1760–1835) and Deborah Blood.
Daniel (29) married Jane Nicholas (20) (born in September, 1835 in St Just in Penwith, Cornwall, England; daughter of Richard Nicholas and Mary Rodda) on September 6, 1855 in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.[1] Their children were:

- Elizabeth Gilson (1857–1926)
- George Gilson (1859–1872)
- Charles Gilson (1861– )
- Maud Mary Gilson (1863–1939)
- James Gilson (1866–1928)
- Patience Gilson (1867–1950)

Daniel died on December 5, 1885 in Bendigo, Colony of Victoria, aged 59.[2] He was buried in White Hills Cemetery, Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City, Victoria.[3]
