James Gilson was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

James Gilson was born in 1866 in White Hills, Colony of Victoria, son of Daniel Gilson (1825–1885) and Jane Nicholas (1835–1892).^[1]

James (20) married Jane Douglas Jones (34) (born in 1852 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; daughter of Edward Jones and Elizabeth Finlay) in 1887 in Lithgow, New South Wales.^[2] Their children were:

• Myrtle Frances Gilson (1888–1937)
• James Nicholas Gilson (1889–1918)
• George Herbert John Gilson (1891–1963)
• Francis Archibald Roy Gilson (1893–1971)

James died on March 1, 1928 in Corinda, Queensland, Australia, aged about 61.^[3]
