Parents. Goodwin-210 had been reported the son of immigrant William Goodwin by his first wife, Elizabeth White. In his profiling of William Goodwin, Robert Charles Anderson recognized only one child, Elizabeth, born to that immigrant,[1] thus the relationship between Christopher and the purported parents has been severed.
Wife/Wives. Nothing has been show to associate Mary, his wife, as Mary Avery, the daughter of Christopher Avery (1590-1679). Such a spousal relationship was severed in 2022. Likewise, nothing has been shown that would associate his wife Mary as Mary (Crouch) Goodwin (abt.1617-abt.1683), and that spousal relationship has been severed.

Christopher Goodwin is believed to have been born in 1618 in Shalford, Essex, England[citation needed] and died after 22 May 1692, Charlestown, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.[2] He married Mary Unknown.[3] He is found in records of Charlestown as early as 1647 and 1653 when he purchased a house with 1/2 acre of land along with 2 cow commons. He worked as a mason. He is believed to be the son of Daniel and Dorothy Barker Goodwin. (Source - "Whose Family is it Anyway?") Christopher transferred land to his four sons in 1689 which he acknowledged in 1692 so he would have to had died after that date.[4]
Children were born in Charlestown Massachusetts.[5][6]
Note; Savage appears to list a few more but they were born after Mary was over 50 years old.
Further identity of wife Mary is unknown. See also 2022 profile comments here and here.
Possibly born in Salford, Braintree District, Essex, England; spouse Mary (Avery?)
From "A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England, Before 1692", Volume 2, Goodrich-Gormon, by James Savage, the following excerpt was taken: "(Goodwin), CHRISTOPHER, Charlestown 1676, freem. 1677; his w. Mary (by wh. he had Elizabeth b. 13 Mar. 1659, and prob. Timothy, bapt. 8 June 1662; Mary and Hannah, 30 Apr. 1676; and Mercy, 6 June 1680; but two, at least, of these bapt. were adult); d. 22 Jan. 1683, aet. 65, Mary m. 29 Feb. 1672, the sec. William Brown of C." Note: The Savage source above has many errors for this person so should be used with caution.

If there is no support for the linked parents, are there objections to severing those associations? --Gene
Given the various comments to the profile regarding his wife, are their any objections to severing the relationship between Christopher and Mary Crouch (abt.1617-abt.1683)?
Here are the claims: He was born 1618 in Shalford, England. He died 22 January 1683 in Charlestown, Massachusetts.
He was the son of Daniel Goodwin 1600-1625 and Dorothy Chapman Barker 1599-1626. They are also represented on Wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Goodwin-2781 https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barker-4225 however with most of these profiles the sourcing is nonexistent or lackluster. FamilySearch claims they were married 1618 in Sibton, Suffolk, England. It also claims that they had children Richard (1614-1636), Edward (1618-Unk), Christopher (this person), Edmond (1619-1645), Daniel II (1620-1713), Christopher (again, 1621-1702), Stephen (1622-1635), Mehetable (1624-1652), Hannah (1624-unk), and John (dates unk). So as you can tell, probably not reliable in the slightest - but hey, Im just stating their claims.
As for Christopher himself, he purportedly married Mary Avery Crouch (1618 Ipplepen England- 22 January 1682 Suffolk MA) in 1640. She is also on Wikitree, though her dates claim her to be about 1617 in London, England - about 1683 in Charleston, MA. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Crouch-2756
Per FamilySearch, they had the following children Ensign Nathaniel (1642-1693), Christopher Jr (1647-1702), John (1648-1712), Mary (1656-1678), Elisabeth (1659-1678), and Timothy (1662-1701). Of these possible children, only one, Nathaniel, is on Wikitree.
While I highly doubt the validity of most of these claims, perhaps a researcher more confident in their skills and more familiar with these families could revisit this man and his purported families, especially since he was disconnected from his last set of parents and family. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/family/LY3Q-XG2 Is the link to the (again, Unsourced) tree.
What appear to be the noted but otherwise unproven parents have recently been linked to this profile. As well, there are profiles of three woman, all Marys, attached as his wife. I'm reviewing these items and the linked profiles right now.
Parents. Other than the name is the same, I don't see the added work (historical records and supporting analysis) to support the proposed/linked parents. See also Some Goodwin Notes 2022.
Wives. I don't see a notice that he was married three times, such that the wives Mary (Avery) Goodwin (bef.1617-) and Mary (Crouch) Goodwin (abt.1617-abt.1683) seem alter-egos of our Mary (unknown) Goodwin (abt.1618-1683).
Unless I have missed important historical references and supporting analysis that would prove the parent-child relationship, I propose the relationships be severed, with the claims moved to the various profile research notes, and appropriate comments added to "disputed" sections of all the different profiles.
Likewise, I have yet to find reliable sources providing a proof for the LNAB of Christopher Goodwin's wife. Unless someone can point to the work that provides historical support for her further identification, I propose the two added wives, Mary (Avery) Goodwin (bef.1617-) and Mary (Crouch) Goodwin (abt.1617-abt.1683) also be severed, with appropriate comments to "disputed" sections of the various profiles.
If folks think something important has been overlooked, or that severing the relationships would be premature, please post so that we can collaborate further. As with all genealogical work, our findings are subject to review and revision based on improved historical discovery and reasoning.--Gene
