Biography
I grew up in Seattle and attended the University of Washington, with majors in History and Journalism. However, I minored in Physics and headed toward broadcast engineering as a career, eventually joining National Public Radio in 1980. In 1987 I began consulting engineering for two Washington DC firms, returning to NPR in 2004 to help start NPR Labs. I retired as Senior Technologist in 2015, but continue work on industry committees and private consulting with public radio stations. My wife and I live in Northern Virginia.
