Vivian, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | hu-2 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively and intermediate Hungarian, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.

It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:

Hi Vivian, my posted Comments on the profiles are merely left there as a handy reference for any future research. They do not require you to do anything timely.

But, I think what you are asking is how can you avoid seeing email alerts and whatnot on such distant profiles?

Simply go to the Privacy tab of the profile, and remove yourself as manager. That way you can stay on the Trusted List, if you want to see any changes in your weekly feed, but you won't get the emails from each Comment.

But if you want to remove yourself from the profile altogether, then click the big Remove Me button. That will drop you as both manager and also from the Trusted List.

There is also a bulk tool that you can use to do a whole family line at one time, but that is a bit tricky without practice.

I agree - it happens frequently that the dates of baptim are taken as the birthdate - even months or years later because of the travelling distances in those days. As regards to Jan Broersen Decker - there is some discussion - at least three generations of Jan Broersen Deckers and an unfortunate pile-up of bad mergers before my adoption of his profile.
