Biography

Gabriel was the third son of Gabriel Porterfield and Jean Maxwell. He succeeded his brother Alexander to the lands of Hapland. He is mentioned as discreet and virtuous in the Duchall MS. He passed away in 1687.^[1][2]

Gabriel married Jane or Jean Hamilton of Barr (or Barns or Barrs), Dunbartonshire and received 8000 marks of tocher.^[1][2]
