Biography

Margaret was the daughter of John Porterfield, the Laird of Comistown in Lothian and Elizabeth Cant. Margaret was the wife of Patrick Drummond. They had no children. ^[1]

Heraldry and Arms

Margaret registered her arms with Lord Lyon in 1672 shortly during the initial wave. ^[2]

"Dame Margaret descended as a second sone of Porterfield of that Ilk and relict of deceast Sr. Patrick Drumand late Conservator in Holland who was second son of the house of Blair and which Blair is descended of the Elder brother of a second marriage of house of Perth.

Bears in lozenge perpale Baron th(?) femme first or three barrs maved(?) gulls, each charged with one Escalop fess-mages of the field by the name Drumond second or a bendlet betmixt a Stags head erased in chief and ape hunting horne base sable garnished jules a cresent for a difference be the name Porterfield Above the shield one helmet befitting his degree mantled gules doubled argent, and for one Crest felt on one Torso a moothhound proper. The motto in use ese roll Gang Marrillie"
