Conrad Rahn was a Georgia colonist.

Occupation: Planter "... among the early settlers of Bethany was Conrad Rahn, who acquired land at the south end of Bethany next to that of Philip Paulitsch, a tapestry weaver. Rahn, who recently came from Pennsylvania, married Barbara Paulitsch, the daughter of Philip. Conrad Rahn soon became one of the leading citizens of Bethany; he also gained prominence as an officer in the colonial militia." [1]

It is possible the Trustees allotted the brothers each 50 acres, but he'd keep their plats when Jacob and Caspar returned to Pennysylvania.

Conrad's father George was born 1701 in Napratten, Ostreusen, Prussia, Germany. He married Anna Elizabeth Birkel and they had 3 sons.

1) Conrad
2) Jacob
3) Johannes

According to the notes on the Salzburger Transport lists, Jacob and Caspar would return to Pennsylvania to "where their mother lived" which says that their father died at some point once they settled leaving her alone. Her sons probably felt the conditions in Georgia were too harsh for their mother so they came back probably to take care of her and Conrad established a life in Georgia as a Georgian Salzburger.

Emigration

The family apparently was accepted by the Georgian Trustees for they are on Pastor Boltzius' Transports as being on the "Charming Martha" arriving in Georgia 29 Oct 1750 [2]; but they found their own passage to Pennsylvania for his father, George, mother, Elizabeth and Conrad on "St. Andrews Galley" that arrived in Pennsylvania 26 Sept 1737. Jacob would follow on the "Lesbie" in October of 1749 and Johannes would come last on the 21 Sep 1751.

George and his son Conrad are listed as Palatines on "St. Andrews Galley" from Rottendam to Cowes arriving in Pennsylvania 26 Sep 1737 [3]
Jacob: #141 p. 219 Oct 1749 "Lesbie" Palatines from Wirtenberg, Durlach and Sweibracken [4]
Johannes: #167 p. 258 21 Sep 1751 "Two Brothers" from Rotterdam [5]

"Conrad, who came to our place with the first transport from territory of Ulm and married Paulitsch's oldest daughter, journeyed to Pennsylvania to visit his parents. He had a very difficult trip to and from and was close to death several times on land and water."[6]

Military

Conrad served as an Ensign in the 7th company, Colonel Jones Regiment, Colonial Army and on Oct 16, 1760 was made Captain of the 9th Company, same regiment. He was re-appointed July 5, 1762 and was still serving as late as 1767.
