Biography

Charles Franklin Raney was born in Paris, Logan, Arkansas about 1838 to Andrew Raney and Margaret/Peggy.

In 1850^[1] he was living in Lower, Franklin County, Arkansas.

In 1860^[2] he was living in Lower, Franklin County, Arkansas.

He would marry and have at least 4 children^[3]

2. Missouri Raney(1866-?)^[4]

He married Rebecca J Hickson on the 8th of April 1869 in Franklin, Arkansas^[5] and they likely had:

In 1870^[4] he was living in Clark, Johnson County, Arkansas.

He would apply for a homestead on the 21st of July, 1871 under Application #7330; 80 acres on the South 1/2 of the North West Quarter of Section 29 in Township 8 North of Range 25 W. At the time the county was referred to as Sarber county, this would later be renamed to Logan County^[3].

He would file for the patent on the homestead land on the 7th of August, 1876. On the 3rd of November, 1976 Charles would be granted the certificate #1327 of his homestead of 80 acres on the South 1/2 of the North West Quarter of Section 29 in Township 8 North of Range 25 W in the District of lands subject to sale at Dardenville, Arkansas^[3].

At the time he confirmed he was the head of his family, with a wife and 4 children^[3]

He died on the 17th of Jan, 1901 in Aa, Pontotoc, Oklahoma and would be buried in the North Hickory Cemetery in Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma^[6]
