Mary was born about 1816. She was the daughter of Robert and Hannah Ring.
She married Thomas Hingston at the Parish Church, Bedminster, St John, Somersetshire, England on 22 August 1839.[1]
They had three children. Sadly her husband passed away in 1842 at the age of 40.
Mary made the decision to emigrated from England to New Zealand with her married son Thomas and spinster daughter Amy. They travelled Saloon Class on the ship "Oxford" arriving into Auckland in April 1881. They were then transported from Auckland to Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty on the Glenelg.[2]
Tragically her son Thomas was drowned in 1891 at the age of 48. Her daughter Amy never married.
She lived out her days with her family in Te Puke in the Bay of Plenty, passing away in 1897 at the age of 81.
