Lula Atella Russ was born on September 4, 1876, in Robeson, North Carolina, United States, daughter of Cornelius Russ (1844–1914) and Mary Jane Barker (1853–1921). ^[1]

Lula (21) married Hugh Archibald Musselwhite (27) (born in 1870 in Robeson, North Carolina, United States; son of John Musselwhite and Mary Eliza Campbell) on February 10, 1898, in Howellsville, Robeson, North Carolina. ^{[2] [3] [4]}
