Alexander Urquhart of Dunlugas, Sheriff of Cromarty (b c1498, d 1564) m. (1532) Beatrix Innes (dau of ?? Innes of Auchintoul).[1][2]
Alexander was the son of Thomas Urquhart, who in 1532 granted a Precept of Sasine for "infefting" of his son Alexander and Beatrix Innes in Inchrory. Also in that year, Master Alexander Urquhart and Beatrix Innes had a Charter upon their lands of Inchrory and Brae confirmed. The following year, Alexander Urquhart and Beatrix Innes had a Sasine on the lands of Inchrory, under the sign and subscription of David Barthane.[3]
Alexander Urquhart of Cromarty married Beatrix Innes.[2]
They had at least five sons and three daughters:
In 1557, Queen Mary under the Quarter Seal issued a commission to serve Alexander Urquhart the sheriffship of Cromartie.[4] Also in 1557, Alexander Urquhart of Cromarty received his Sasine on the Barony of Cromartie, Moathill thereof, Sheriffship of Cromartiee and Anells of the Bruch and Brae, and a second Sasine of Cromartie, and 5 Oxgaits of Brae, under the sign and subscription of Martin Logan, notary.[3]
