Barry,

In regard to your comment about Michelarcangelo Bulso-92....His given name is as it appears on his birth record. The actual record is the source and it is linked to where it was found. It is an Italian record -written in Italian--I'm unaware of where an English version might be found.

Hi Barry- I haven’t looked super closely yet, but could you please make sure not to merge people who are different genders, you can copy-paste the source instead of merging the profiles. Please feel free to message me any questions, thank you.
Hi Barry,

Thanks for your interest in the Phaneuf/Faneuf clan. The various spellings of the surname have caused a fair amount of confusion over the years. The most common current spelling is Phaneuf (the one my grandmother used). This spelling became common around the middle of the 19th century and eventually mostly replaced the Faneuf spelling. The story of the origin of the surname can be found on the profile of Claude Matthias (Farnsworth) Fanef (1690-1773) who is the ancestor of the entire clan.

FamilySearch trees are secondary sources and should never be used as a sole source. Only primary sources, such as baptism and birth records should be used as sources for last name at birth (LNAB) on Wikitree. Another point of confusion is the practice of name standardization, as is used at sites such as PRDH, where the Phaneuf spelling is often applied to individuals whose baptismal records clearly use the Faneuf or Fanef spelling. In regards to Claude Faneuf (1778-1855), both his father Francois and paternal grandfather Jean Baptiste have had comments for over a year requesting the profile owner to change the spelling of their LNAB. Neither of these men ever used the Phaneuf spelling.

Best regards,

Paul

Hello Paul. Thank you for taking the time to email me. Where would I find baptism and birth records  ?

The Quebecois Project Reliable Sources page gives you pretty much everything you need.

If you're interested in a paid subscription service, the most popular ones seem to be Drouin and PRDH. If you're more frugal (like me) and prefer a free service then the Quebec parish records at Familysearch and BANQ are my favorites. Unfortunately, these are not indexed, so you have to search them the old fashioned way, except that now we can flip pages digitally from the comfort of our own home. You can access them both from this index at https://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/Genealogie-paroisses-Quebec.aspx?lng=en.

It's fairly rare in my experience, but sometimes user provided trees at Familysearch include links to the parish records at the site in the sources section. More often I find that the user provided trees at Nos Origines (https://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/genealogie.aspx?lng=en) provide links to the original parish records at either Familysearch or BANQ. I usually search for a person there before manually searching the parish records at Familysearch, just in case.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hello Ludwig. I have reviewed as much of the WikiTree notes available as I can, but have run into an issue and would appreciate your help. I have some duplicate entries that I am unable to merge. Most originally had 3 duplicate records and I got them to 2, but can't go any further.

Antonio Fardella )(23/22); Leonardo Fardella (28/25); Gerolima Fardella (20/19); Rose Fardella (27/24); Teresa Bonaccorso (29/25/24) and Santa Ciraulo (27/24/26/28). Sorry to bother you and any help would be greatly appreciated. Barry Walser

I have chaged all duplicates to another person with the same last name.
