Biography

Johannn Adam Werner AKA "Adam" Varner was the son of German Immigrants, Johannes Adam "Hans" Werner and Katherina (Sigler) Werner who came to America in 1732 and settled in Pennsylvania. Adam (Werner) Varner married Anna Maria (Pfauz) Founts, who was also of German descent. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1738 to parents who were German immigrants.

Adam Verner (boy under 16), with his father Hans Adam Verner and mother Katharina Verner and sister Katharina Verner are listed on the passenger list of the "Ship Johnson of London, David Crockat, Master, from Rotterdam, but last from Deal, as by Clearance thence". [1] arriving in Philadelphia on 18 Dep 1732.

Residence

After the end of the Cherokee Wars in mid-summer 1761 land was opened for settlement along the Uwharrie River in North Carolina. Adam and a number of others from the York, Pennsylvania area took deeds from land speculator Henry McCulloch for land in Tract 10 along the Uhwarrie. On 17 February 1763, all of the following obtained Mc Cullon deeds on the waters of Uwharrie in Rowan County, N.C. (Deed Book 5): David Fouts, 292 acres (pp.332) David Fouts, Jr. (son of David Sr.), 230 acres (pp.335) Michael Fouts (Adam's brother-in-law), 260 acres (pp.335) Jacob Fouts, 200 acres (pp.334) Andrew Hoover, 213 acres (pp.342) & 200 acres (pp.483) Adam Varner, 289 acres (pp.415) .

Varner-7 and Werner-593 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate. Werner is the German spelling and he was born in Germany.

Warner Varner-1 and Werner-593 do not represent the same person because: On reconsideration it appears that this Adam was the brother of Johann Adam.

Warner Varner-1 and Werner-593 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles have the same parents. Wrner_Varner-1 has no descendants or spouse and no sources. Tradition in German families of the time was to use middle names as preferred name, thus I belive these are the same Adam. Only one Adam mentioned in his father's will.
