Germany Connector's Challenge October 2022: Latin America

Hi all,

Germany's Connector Challenge is on, no matter if there is a Thon or not. ;) Continuing last month's topic and adding to the Hispanic Appreciation Month WikiTree is doing this month, I chose some big branches with many profiles in Latin America that have connections to Germany and to the USA.

The first tree is from Colombia, although the woman, whose profile I chose, lived in Germany and the USA.

Richard Maximilian Böhme was born in Germany, married in Cuba and died in Florida (Connected! Thanks Paige)

In the Mexican Unconnected list there is the profile of Charles Friedrich Henkel, there are *many* US-profiles in there (Connected! Thanks Paige!)

Werner (Jaffe) Jaffé is a German who landed in Peru. Many profiles of this branch don't have locations at all.

Have fun!

Great idea for October!

I have started on the first profile for Ida (Hüneberg) Schuster and added sources for:

Research Questions:
  • The following information was given regarding her marriage: "Ida married [[Schuster-106|David Schuster]] (1851 - 1909) on 14 Jul 1887 in Volkmarsen." Question: Was this the religious event, not the civil marriage?!
  •  Can we source any more information as to when she emigrated to Italy?
  • More aunts and uncles can be found here https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/1260357505 but need to be sourced.
Hope this provides a start. Happy 3-Oct-2022!

There is connected Schuster-543 from Lügde, the same place as her husband Schuster-106

Oh, great! Any Jewish records from Lügde?

I might be overlooking something but familsearch seems to think that these two profiles do connect, see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GHQ2-LV3

But it is all unsourced over there…

One comment does say:

Gemäss Unterlagen von Archiv NRW (DE) waren die Eltern von Philipp David Schuster : David Schuster und Brendel Berg. Philipp David Schuster heiratete 1854 Berta Schiff

What do you mean with "these two"?

Jaffe: FS has Jewish document for Eisenach . Might be worth a try

For the Jaffés I recommend checking the Familienbuch Euregio link on Werners profile! Tons of hints.

Already checked If there is a possibility to link to my huge Aachen bunch but it doesn't look like it.

The branch of Charles Friedrich Henkel has 80 profiles in total, biggest German places are Wenigentaft (where we have two connected profiles) and Soisdorf (five connected profiles), but it seems like all of those people don't have profiles on FamilySearch

Charles Friedrich Henkel's grandson George Elmer Henkel, Sr (son of Charles J Henkel) has a profile and is connected, but the privacy level of George's profile is "Open", so I can't make the connection.  I did send a request to the profile manager.

I'll look for another American connection for this family.

Charles Friedrich Henkel is now connected through his American grandson George E Henkel.

I connected Richard Maximilian Böhme through a very circuitous path through his American daughter Elsa, and various spouses, siblings and children.  The path went through several German familes, and also an Irish one.
