Am I related to this hanging judge?

Question

Hi all! I am a writer working on a story about the CT witch trials and according to the ancestry site I might be related to one of the presiding colonial governors, Thomas Welles (linked below). That said, I'm not a genealogist and the ancestry profiles/trees are a hot mess. I'm hoping one of you fine researchers would be willing to help me find out? I've linked to the governor below. This is a family tree my aunt made which so far seems reliable:

Gov welles, was married to alice gunn tomes.  since you don't have a profile cant really answer, on my other account  he's Gov Judge Thomas/Thos Gideon Welles/Wells/Willies/Wallis I  1594-1660
1st cousin 10x removed of wife of 10th cousin 2x removed   if i did my research well . is Father is the  connection in my tree to go down welle's family to JOHNNY DEPP wikitee page
