Did Stephen Ulrich have multiple wives? That issue is raised in Source: S1927. To quote that source, ¨There is considerable discrepancy also as to which of Stephen wives bore which children.¨ Does anyone know where this source can be found? I have recently merged into the Stephen Ulrich, Ulrich-43, and discovered that Thomas Little, a direct descendant of Stephen Ulrich, had a mtDNA halopgroup of H6a1b3; whereas, my mtDNA haplogroup is U2e1. This was rather surprising. I looked at the genetic relationship between me and the people listed as having DNA connections to Stephen and found that I shared DNA with 7 out of the 16 members that I could do comparisons with. In addition, I shared autosomal DNA with Thomas LIttle, so I am certain that I am a descendant of Stephen Ulrich as is Thomas Little. The question of why Thomas LIttle and myself have two different mtDNA haplogroups may be answered by my opening statement of this comment. It would appear that Stephen Ulrich had at least two wives: one the ancestor of Thomas Little and a second the mother of my ancestor, Hannah Susan Ulrich (Puterbaugh). Of interest, Hannah appears to be the youngest of Stephenś children. So, who could be the mother of Hannah. There is a suggestion from another mtDNA match of mine which has no mutational differences from my mtDNA. This person´s ancestor can be traced back to a Mary Elizabeth Angle, wife of Johan Jacob Brumbaugh and daughter of Henry Angle. This information is taken from ¨Genealogy of the Brumbach families¨ by Gaius Marcus Brumbaugh, page 141. It is possible that another daughter of Henry Angle married Stephen Ulrich, providing the same mtDNA haplogroup to me and the descendant of Mary Elizabeth Angle. In support of Henry Angle being my ancestor, I have found a living person who shares autosomal DNA with me and this person´s direct ancestor is Henry Angle JR, son of Henry Angle, father of Mary Elizabeth Angle. So, I share DNA with two of the two known children of Henry Angle.
