Did Sarah Holdstock marry twice within one year? (London 1870)

I know that Peter William Peifer was married to Sarah Holdstock, this is proven by his daughters marriage record.

But I only have found a marriage Jul-Aug-Sep 1870 of Peter William Peiffer to Sarah Fontaima.

I think the census reports proves the identity of Sarah Fontaima and Sarah Holdstock. (She later lives together with mother and sister.)

So I was searching for an earlier marriage that explains the change of name.

I found it, but in Jan-Feb-Mar 1870, just half a year before the 2nd marriage! Is it likely that somebody remarries after such a short time?

I also found a possible death record for the 1st husband, but I am not sure because the spelling is quite different.

For details, please check the research notes in the profile.

Can you please have a look and give your opinion? Do you think my deductions make sense?

I also would appreciate some local knowledge about further sources that can verify the family connections? Are there e.g. parish records available online?

Thank you!

Best regards

In addition to my comment above here is an image of her marriage to John Fontaima:

So she was a spinster when she married John Fontaima on 13 Feb 1870 and a widow when she married  Peter William Peiffer 20 Sep 1870
Thanks Rob, exactly what I was looking for!

I was not aware that these records are available on Ancestry. I only have the German access - I think in my next holiday I will upgrade to international for a month and check this.

Best regards

Bettina
