Malachi Ferguson?

Malachi Ferguson (my gggGrandfather)records.  I found 1830, 1840 and 1850 census records showing him in Pike KY.  The 1830 census record perhaps shows a William Ferguson, of proper age to be his father, living a few doors down.  The name was transcribed as William Garganus, but it looks like William Ferguson Sr. to me.  Malachi’s name was also transcribed incorrectly as Matthew in this same record, but it clearly reads as Malchi (should be Malachi).  I am investigating this possibility.  Family Search has it translated better than the other record but the document isn't very clear.  I am hoping someone can help me find Malachi's parents.  Thanks.
