Any reason to refrain from merging Edmund Wood?

I have requested trusted list from the profiles (Wood-5596 and Wood-4043) and I am the PM for Wood-12860.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wood-5596

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Woods-4043

I have put notice of "plan to merge" on the profiles involved.

I will merge -12860 into -5596.  then into -4043.

Is there anyone with a stake in this who would desire that I refrain from the merge?  I have NYGBR resource "English Origins of the Mitchell, Wood, Lum and Halstead Families"  in my possession.

Just a comment about procedure: You should always merge into the lowest ID as doing it your proposed way creates unnecessary redirects.
Basically, determine the final ID and merge into that.  Or putting it another way, don't merge into a profile that will then be merged away (or lnabbed away, which is the same thing)

In this case, merge both the others into 5596, the lowest ID with the right LNAB.

If you're missing a Margaret Wood, I've got one going spare, born about 1530 in Halifax.  Could be Richard's sister, or maybe daughter if he had a previous wife.
thank you both, Helmut and RJ.  I've not ever tried to merge 3 - so your assistance is most helpful.

I will merge all into Wood-4043.

Cheryl
4043 is the one with the wrong LNAB.  5596 is the one to merge into.
Hi RJ,

I am corresponding with a person who is PM for both profiles, Woods-4043 and Wood-5596.  Asking for patience as we work this through.

Question?  If the LNAB on -4043 is changed to Wood, wouldn't that be the best one to merge into?  The information on -5596 wouldn't be lost, would it?

I am "trusted list" for both profiles.

Cheryl

Changing the LNAB is technically the same as creating a new profile and merging the old one into it. RJ's answer to merge into -5596 is correct since it is the profile with the lowest number for the correct last name.

Helmut and RJ,

ok.. got it.   merge into -5596.  Thanks.

Hey Cheryl, I must say I'm very happy to be apart of this site.  This is just amazing. However, I'm not finding a Edmund Wood in my family as of yet.  I am a descendant of Rachael Sewilda Wood, she is my great grandmother. On ancestry.com I have reached bout as far as I can go with my Wood ancestors. I'm on the road at the moment but I also noticed somebody was looking for Susan Wood Mitchell, I do believe she is family. Just wanted to touch base and also say how excited I am to be involved. We were a very close family and I'm pretty knowledgeable of my ancestors. See you all very soon.  Excited in Florida,  Gina
Good to have you on WikiTree, Gina!  I've only been a volunteer genealogist here about 16 months, so I'm pretty new too and there is still lots to learn.  It's fun, though, to have distant family members surrounding you...even though we live miles apart.

Edmund Wood, Sr. was the father of Susan (Wood) Mitchell.  Susan was my 10 great grandmother.  I come down through the Coe family - Susan's daughter, Hannah Mitchell,  married Robert Coe.

So far I see 6 profiles of Susan Wood that probably need to be merged into Wood-2488 which is a PGM profile.  I'm 3/4 Norwegian, so to that I say a resounding UFFTAH!  Lots of work to be done.

Enjoy yourself on WikiTree, Gena!  It really is lots of fun.

The name was changed several years ago because someone complained.  It is Wood to some and Woods to others but they are the same family.  I first called it Woods and so changed it to Woods'Wood but would have prefered Wood-Woods.
There was a Wood family in Halifax by about 1300.  They appear in Latin as Bosco and in English as Wod, Wode, Woode, but I haven't seen Woods.

One line relocated to the Barnsley area, but they evidently remembered their origins, because when they eventually got a title they called themselves Earl of Halifax.

We seem to have traces of an attempt to connect them to the Atwoods of Sanderstead, but that's bogus.
