Descendant of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins.

Mary Atwood; b. 16 Aug 1749 at Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts;. She is the daughter of Richard and Mary Atwood of Estham, Wellfleet.

She first married John Thompson on Oct. 11, 1768 at Wellfleet, Barnstable, Massachusetts

Mary and John Thompson had three children:

• Hannah, m. William Murch, of Hampden, Me. ; grandparents of T. H. Murch, M. C. from 5th Maine District.
• Nancy, m. Ezekiel Cobb, of Hampden, Me.
• Mary. m. 1st, Nathan Harding; and 2nd, Levi Young, both of Hampden, Me.

John Thompson passed away about 1776

Mary married March 4th, 1776 George Brooks of Bradford, (near Yoville,) England. The Brooks removed to Orrington, Maine, 1776-7. George Brooks died Dec. 5, 1807 ;

• Elizabeth "Betsey" Brooks; b. 14 Dec 1777 at Orrington, Penobscot, Maine; m. Daniel Snow, son of Edward Snow and Betty Myrick, 13 Oct 1793; d. 12 Mar 1856 at Orrington, Penobscot, Maine, at age 78.
• John Brooks. b. Dec. 4, 1778 ; m. Sallle Dean, Jan. 1, 1801
• Martha Brooks, b. Dec. 4, 1780 ; m. Henry Dillingham.
• Joanna Brooks, b. Mar. 3, 1783 ; m. Capt. Jeremiah Simpson, June 1, 1801.
• Abigail Brooks; b. 4 Mar 1785 at Orrington, Penobscot, Maine; m. Allen Hodges, son of Tisdale Hodges and Naomi Hodges, 10 Mar 1805; d. 21 Mar 1867 at Brewer, Penobscot, Maine, at age 82.
• Deborah A., b. April 10, 1887 ; m. Thos. Snow, Esq., of Frankfort, May 19, 1817.
• James Brooks, b. Feb. 14, 1789; m. Elisabeth T. Bartlett, Aug. 18, 1814.
• Thomas Brooks, b. April, 1791; died 1793.
• Lucy Brooks, b. April, 1793 ; died 1794.

Mary married, third. Deacon Mark Hatch, of Castine, July, 1814, and she died there Sept. 2, 1817, aged 68.
