Biographical Information

Samuel Beaman was born in North Carolina and migrated west to Owen County, Indiana with his son, James, Samuel Jr and Alvin in about 1824. They first settled in Morgan Township and located on a parcel of land claimed and sold to John Carter in 1830.[1]

Timeline with Research Notes

1830 Census: Samuel and Briant Beaman listed consecutively on p 282, Owen County, Indiana census. His household had the following members:

  • 2 males <10 - probably Samuel and Alvin
  • 1 male 15 to 20 - might be James Beaman
  • 1 male 30-40 - this is most likely Samuel Beaman.

Note: 1 male, John seems to be missing and the ages of Samuel and Alvin seem to be younger than expected.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
