Biography

On 14 Jul 1678, at the age of 5, John was baptized with his parents and six siblings at the Dutch Reform Church in Flatbush, New York although they lived on Staten Island. His baptism was registered in the Church's book under the Dutch spelling of Jon but reflected the Anglo spelling of the surname Britton for the entire family.^[1]
