Biography

John Collins was born in 1689, the son of Joseph Collins and Ruby Knowles of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

On February 12, 1701/2, he married Hannah Doane,^[5] daughter of John Doane and Hannah Bangs, daughter of Edward of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts^{[2] [3] [4]}. They lived first at Welfleet, then moved to Chatham, where he was a prominent citizen. , and their children^[5] included:

1. Solomon, born Feb 3, 1703/4, who married Eunice Atkins^{[2] [4]}
2. Samuel, born November 26, 1705, who married once, then married Patricia Howes Eldredge, widow of Seth Eldrege^{[2] [4]}
3. Martha, born January 25, 1707, who married Moses Godfrey son of Moses circa 1726^{[2] [4]}
4. John, born November 2, 1709, who married Sarah Church Feb 2, 1729^{[2] [4]}
5. Hannah, born November 2, 1711, who married Stephen Smith son of John circa 1725^{[2] [4]}

John Collins died May 24, 1765^[2], and was buried in the Old Cemetery in Chatham^[4]
