John Collins was born in 1689, the son of Joseph Collins and Ruby Knowles of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts. [1][2][3][4]
On February 12, 1701/2, he married Hannah Doane,[5] daughter of John Doane and Hannah Bangs, daughter of Edward of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts[2][3][4]. They lived first at Welfleet, then moved to Chatham, where he was a prominent citizen. , and their children[5] included:
Solomon, born Feb 3, 1703/4, who married Eunice Atkins[2][4]
Samuel, born November 26, 1705, who married once, then married Patricia Howes Eldredge, widow of Seth Eldrege[2][4]
Martha, born January 25, 1707, who married Moses Godfrey son of Moses circa 1726[2][4]
John, born November 2, 1709, who married Sarah Church Feb 2, 1729[2][4]
Hannah, born November 2, 1711, who married Stephen Smith son of John circa 1725[2][4]
Joseph, born 1713, who married Abigail Crowell in 1737[2][4]
David, born April 26, 1715, who married Desire Hawes[2][4]
Anna, who married Jonathan Crowell son of Paul in 1740[2][4]
Rebecca, who married Edward Cleveland April 17, 1737[2]
John Collins died May 24, 1765[2], and was buried in the Old Cemetery in Chatham[4]
