Thomas Littleton was born in Worcestershire, England.

Birth and Parentage

Thomas was born about 1375, the son of Thomas de Littleton and his wife, Julian de Somery.^[1]

Marriage and Family

According to the Visitation of Worcestershire in 1634, he married Maud, the daughter of Richard Quartermain, son of Thomas Quartermain and Katherine née Bretton.^[2]According to John Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Peerage, her mother was Joan Grey, daughter and heiress of .............Grey of Rotherfield.^[3]

In the Quartermain Pedigree in The History, Description and Antiquities of the Prebendal Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Thame, in the County and Diocese of Oxford...;, she is named Matilda, a variant of the name Maud. ^[4]

With Thomas de Littleton, she had a daughter: Elizabeth ^[2]who married twice; to

1. Thomas Heuster of Lichfield, and to
2. Thomas Wescote, who (apparently complying with his wife's insistence) subsequently changed his name to Littleton, thus passing the maternal surname down to his descendants.^[3]

Death

Thomas Littleton passed away about 1421.
