Thomas Littleton was born in Worcestershire, England.
Birth and Parentage
Thomas was born about 1375, the son of Thomas de Littleton and his wife, Julian de Somery.[1]
Marriage and Family
According to the Visitation of Worcestershire in 1634, he married Maud, the daughter of Richard Quartermain, son of Thomas Quartermain and Katherine née Bretton.[2]According to John Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Peerage, her mother was Joan Grey, daughter and heiress of .............Grey of Rotherfield.[3]
In the Quartermain Pedigree in The History, Description and Antiquities of the Prebendal Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Thame, in the County and Diocese of Oxford...;, she is named Matilda, a variant of the name Maud. [4]
With Thomas de Littleton, she had a daughter: Elizabeth[2]who married twice; to
Thomas Heuster of Lichfield, and to
Thomas Wescote, who (apparently complying with his wife's insistence) subsequently changed his name to Littleton, thus passing the maternal surname down to his descendants.[3]
Death
Thomas Littleton passed away about 1421.
