George Lort was born in 1530 in Pembrokeshire, Wales, son of Thomas Lort (1505 - ) and Elizabeth (Denton) Lort (1505 - ).
George married Margery Eddow (1530 - 1555). Their children were:
- Roger Lort (1555 - 1613)
- George Lord (1591 - )
- Thomas Lord (1591 - 1597).
George died in 1600 in Wales aged ~70.

GEORGE LORT came from Staffordshire to Pembrokeshire c. 1567 as steward of the Stackpole estate under Margaret Stanley; later on he bought the estate
