Biography

Robert Alexander Mason was born on 24 Apr 1914 in Cabarrus county, North Carolina, United States. He was the son of George Washington Mason and Daisy Blackwelder. [1] [2] [3]

In the 1920 census, Robert (age 5) was living in Poplar Tent, Cabarrus, North Carolina, USA. His father, George, was staying with the parents as were his children Bill, Annie May, Clarance, Luther, and (spelled) Robbert. [1]

Robert married Blanche Furr (1914 - 2007).

Robert died on August 8, 2007 in Concord, Cabarrus. [2] [3]

He is buried in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, North Carolina. [3]

Obituary
Mr. Robert Alexander "Rob" Mason, 93, of 521 Short St., passed away at his home Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Westford United Methodist Church where Mr. Mason was a lifelong member, with the Rev. Jeff Rushing and Mary Beth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday at Westford United Methodist Church. Mr. Mason was born April 23, 1914, in Cabarrus County, to the late George and Daisy Blackwelder Mason. Before his retirement in 1966, he worked for Cannon Mills 38 years. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Blanche Furr Mason; son, Earl Mason; brother, James Ray Mason; four grandchildren, Rick Mason, Scott Mason, Greg Mason and Lori Pinion; along with nine great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandchild; and Birdean Burress, a loving and special friend on the family. Thanks to a caring and dedicated caregiver, Sis Key, and all the Caregivers and Nurses of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative of Cabarrus County, 5003 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Condolences may be left at www.wilkinsonfuneralhome.com Wilkinson Funeral Home is serving the Mason Family.
