G.F. Sanborn, Vital Records of Hampton, New Hampshire, page 96, records his birth, the date is given in the Old Style: "Joseph, Ye sonn of James Philbrick and Ann his wife born ye: 1: 8 mo 63"

Joseph PHILBRICK died in his 93rd year.

Jacob Chapman in the Philbrick/Philbrook Families, p.16 records: "Joseph PHILBRICK, b. 1 Oct 1663, a mariner, m. 1685-6, Triphena, (dau. of William and Rebecca) Marston of Hampton, b. 28 Dec 1663, who d. in 1729, in her 66th year. After 1714 he removed to Rye, where he d. 17 Nov 1755, ae. 92. He had 9 ch."

From the History of Rye, New Hampshire: page 457: "The first Philbrick who came to Rye was Joseph, about the year 1700, and settled near the house of Francis Jenness, in the south part of the town. He was the grandson of Thomas Philbrick, who came from Lincolnshire, England, with Sir Richard Saltenstall, and settled in Watertown in 1630, and removed to Hampton in 1645, and died in 1667, very aged. Joseph died Nov. 7, 1755, in his ninety-third year."

From History of Rye, New Hampshire: page 489: "Joseph Philbrick was ordered to court for building a house on the town's land. It is said that his wife was a daughter of one of the first three settlers of Hampton."
