Lemuel was born about 1757 in Maine. His parents are at this time unknown. He passed away on 16 January 1827 (age 70) in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine.[1] Note: birth date calculated from age at death in death record. He is buried in Bradbury Cemetery, Durham, Androscoggin County, Maine.[2][3]
Lemuel married Anna Stone on 3 April 1777 at the Second Congregational Church, Scarborough, Cumberland County, Maine.[4]
Lemuel is living in Scarborough, Cumberland County, Maine on the 1800 census. He and his life are listed as age 26 to 44. In the household are 3 males age under 10, 3 males age 10-15, 1 male 816-25, 1 female 816-25.[5]
In 1820 Lemuel Rice and family are living in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. In a household are 1 male age 45 and over, 1 female age 26-44, 1 male under age 10, 1 male age 26-44, 1 female age 16-25.[6]
Census records for 1830 and later appear to be Lemuel's son, Lemuel.
Lemuel served as a Private in the War of 1812 in the 2d Regiment (Burbank's), Massachusetts Militia between 1812-1815 from Cumberland County, Maine.[7] He was awarded a pension 28 April 1818 for this service. The record for US Pensioners, 1818-1872 gets his death date and 16 January 1827.[8]
