John Stewart (4th Lord Innermeath) was born about 1518 in Innermeath, Perthshire, Scotland. He was the son of Richard Stewart and his wife Margaret Lindsay.[1]
John became Sheriff of Forfar 1541.
John & his wife Elizabeth were granted lands in the parish of Inverkeilor in May 1544.

Lord Innermeath is an extinct title in the Peerage of Scotland created c. 1471 for Walter Stewart, 1st Lord Innermeath. Stewart had previously been Lord of Lorne, but resigned that title in favour of Colin Campbell, 1st Earl of Argyll.
