Thomas Trevor was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Biography

Thomas was born in 1658, the second son of Sir John Trevor and his wife Ruth Hampden. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated on 7 Jul 1673 aged 14 years. He was a barrister-at-law, Inner Temple in 1680. KC and treasurer in 1689. He married, firstly, Elizabeth Searle, daughter of John Searle and Anne Nicoll, in 1690. He was knighted on 21 Oct 1692 as Solicitor-General and in 1695 became Attorney-General. He was MP for Plympton 1692-8 and Lewes 1700-01. In 1701 he was appointed Chief Justice of the Common Pleas until 1714. On 12 Sep 1704 a licence for his marriage to Anne Bernard was issued by the Faculty Office Marriage Licences.[1] On 25 Sep 1704 he married, secondly, Anne, the widow of Sir Robert Bernard, 3rd Baronet. He was First Commisssioner of the Great Seal in 1710. On 31 Dec 1711 he was created a peer as Baron Trevor of Bromham. On the accession of George I in 1714 he was deprived of the justiceship, but from 1726 until his death he was Lord Privy Seal. He was President of the Council in 1730. He died on 19 Jun 1730 at London. On 1 Jul he was buried at Bromham, Bedford. He was succeeded by his son Thomas (1692-1753).
