Private Frederick Weed served in the War of 1812

Frederick was born in 1785. He was the son of Ebenezer Weed and Sarah Fairweather, spelling of his mother's surname also appears as Fayerweather. [1]

Frederick Weed married Priscilla Hart on 28 November 1807 in New York, New York. [2]

He served as a private with New York Militia in the War of 1812 with Captain Price's company from 15 Sept 1812 to 30 Nov 1812 and Captain Dunscomb's company from 2 Sept 1814 - 1 Dec 1814 . [3]

In 1850, Frederick is living in Yonkers, New York with his wife Priscilla and daughters Caroline and Mary Jane. Also in the household is grandson James F Hyde. [4] James F Hyde's mother Eliza Weed had died the year before on 11 Dec 1849. In the 1855 N.Y. State census James F. Hyde is no longer in the household and comes up living with his father James M. Hyde who married Mary.

In 1855, Frederick is 70 years old living in New York City, Ward 10, New York, New York with his wife Priscilla, 63 and daughters Caroline, 42 and Mary Jane, 29. [5]

He is buried in St John's Cemetery in Yonkers, Westchester, New York. [6]

His will appears in probate on 25 June 1858 in Westchester, New York. [7]

Last Will & Testament of Frederick Weed, 1856 [8]

Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on the fourth day of May in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight Isaac Weed one of the Executure named in the last Will and Testament of FREDERICK WEED late of the town of Yonkers deceased appeared in open Court before the Surrogate of the County of Westchester and made application to have the said last Will and Testament which relates to both real and personal Estate proved and on such application the Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence who were the widow heirs and next of kin of the said Testator and their respective residences and some of them appearing to be minors and having no general guardian residing within the State of New York a Special Guardian was appointed in due form of law to take care of their interests in the matter of proving the said Will by an order entered for that purpose by said Surrogate And ___ Surrogate did thereupon issue a Citation in the due form of law directed to the said Widow heirs and next of kin and special guardian by their respective places of residence requiring them to appear before said Surrogate at this office in the town of White Plains in said County on the thirty first day of May next to attend the Probate of the said Will and afterwards to with on the said thirty first day of May satisfactory evidence by affidavit was produced and presented to said Surrogate of the service of the said Citation in the mode prescribed by law and on the day no one appearing to oppose the Probate of such Will such proceedings were thereupon had afterwards that the Surrogate took the proof of said Will hereinafter set forth upon this 16th day of June in the year on thousand eight hundred and fifty eight and he adjudged this said Will to be a valid Will of Real and Personal Estate and the proofs thereof to be sufficient which said last Will and Testament and proofs are as follows that is to say
In the name of God Amen I FREDERICK WEED of the city of New York late of Town of Yonkers Westchester County and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills and Codocils by me made.
First I order and direct that all my debts, funeral expenses and expenses of proving this my last Will shall be paid out of my personal Estate.
Second I __and bequeath all my house held furniture of every kind description to my beloved wife Priscilla
Third I give bequeath and devise all my Real Estate and the remainder of my personal Estate to my said wife Priscilla to be held used and enjoyed by her during her natural life or go long as she shall remain unmarried and from and immediately after her marriage or decease which ever shall first happen I give and bequeath and devise the said real Estate to my son Isaac subject nevertheless to the payment by said son Isaac of the several Legacies hereinafter mentioned within one year after the marriage of decease of my said wife whichever shall first happen.
Fourth I give and bequeath to my Executors hereinafter named the sum of Three thousand dollars to be held by them in trust for my son Frederick the interest thereon to be paid to him in equal half yearly payments during his lifetime and at his decease the same to be divided as follows to his widow should he leave one him surviving the one third of the interest last above named and the remainder to be equally divided among his lawful heirs share and share alike.
Fifth I give and bequeath to my said Executors aforesaid the sum of Three Thousand dollars to be held by them in Trust for my daughter Mary Jane Weed the interest thereof to be appropriated for her support and maintenance during her natural life and at her death the said sum of Three thousand dollars to be equally divided among my heirs share and share alike except the portion to my son Frederick which I hereby direct shall be paid to my Executors aforesaid to be held by them in trust for him as is before recited in article fourth of this my Will.
Sixth I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Ann Paddock and Julia Waring the sum of Twenty five hundred dollars ($2500) each.
Seventh I give and bequeath the sum of Twenty five hundred dollars to the children of my deceased daughter Eliza Hyde Viz to Josephine Hyde, James F. Hyde and William Hyde, to be equally divided among them on their severally & individually becoming of age share and share alike and should either or any of them die before they come of age then their share of shares to be equally divided among the survivors of them the interest on said shares to be paid to them or their guardians for them during their minority and if the said Josephine, James F., or William or either of them shall die before my said wife shall die or marry again then it is my will that the share of one so dying shall be paid to his or her heirs at law
Eighth I give and bequeath to Ellen Weed the Widow of my deceased son William Weed the sum of Two hundred dollars and to each of their children viz to Harriet, James, Herbert, Henry, Frederick, William, and Edward the sum of Two hundred dollars each to be paid to them as they severally become of age and shall be living when my said Wife shall marry or die.
Ninth It is my further Will that if either of my children above named shall die leaving lawful issue before my said Wife shall marry or die then the devise or legacy to his or her above given shall descend to his or her issue but if either of them shall die without lawful issue then the devise or legacy to him or her share given shall be divided among each of my children as shall then be living and the children of much of them as shall be dead in such manner as that each of my said children who shall then be living shall receive such share as he or she would have received if all of my children who shall have died leaving issue had been living and so that much children of my deceased children shall receive the share which such parent would have received if living
Tenth I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife Priscilla, Executrix and my son Isaac and my son in law Charles Edward Waring Executors of this will my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me made at any time heretofore.
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six (1856).

Note an erasure in 9th Article line noted before signing.
