I have been able to see the locket in which this portrait is encased in the basement of the Maryland Historical Society. I was not allowed at the time to take a picture of it. I have checked the provenance on the locket, and it definitely was handed down through the family and fits the age Tobias would have been in 1774, about 27 years old.

This is a black and white image of a miniature portrait encased in a locket held by the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore, MD. The image itself comes from the Frick Library in NYC. I believe the image is in the public domain because of it's historical and artistic significance, but am checking. website: http://arcade.nyarc.org/record=b1085038~S7
