In 1764, Tobias inherited a piece of property in Frederick County, Maryland from his father Peter. The will says nothing about Tobias being underage or needing a guardian, so Tobias was likely 21 or older in 1764, but more information is needed to confirm this.
In addition to "Below the Nipple and the Bubby", which Tobias inherited from his father, he also owned the following properties: Butler's Trouting Streams, The Rockey Mantle Piece, a Tanyard north of Frederick Town, and various lots and houses in Frederick Town Proper.
An 1816 Frederick County equity court case over Tobias's estate says he died intestate and names these children:[1]
Agnes, wife of James F. Huston/Houston
Elizabeth, wife of Cecelias Head, living in Ohio
Tobias Butler, Jr., living in Ohio
The tract Rockey Mantle Piece is mentioned in the case.
