Hi Anne,

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts about the portrait of Elizabeth.

I don’t consider WikiTree a commercial website, so I’m curious why you think It is. From what I understand, any money WikiTree takes in is used for things like server maintenance. The statement on the image says it is not to be used commercially, so using it in a profile is not a commercial use (i.e. not re-sold or fee charged to view, etc.). Thanks again!

Gale, even though WikiTree does not charge subscriptions, it is, by definition (.com) a commercial website; it does sell ads, and it pays taxes as a commercial entity; it is not a 501(c)3 nonprofit as defined by the IRS. How it chooses to spend its revenues is not relevant to its status.
