"In 1802, a group of 16 heads of families from Minoudie, Nova Scotia (11 families) and Petticodiac (now Fox Creek) (5 families) requested a parcel of land at Great Shemogue Harbour in the county of Westmorland, New Brunswick. In July 1806, these pioneer farmers received from the Government of New Brunswick , a lot of 4,160 acres to be divided among John Downing and 15 other families."
