Biography

Tjærand was born in 1761 in Hordaland, Norway. He married the widow Eli Anna Ingebrigtsdatter Hammersland in 1784 in Fjelberg. He joined her and her two children on her farm at Øvrebø Søre. They had six more children together. Tjærand passed away in 1812 in Øvrebø Søre and was buried in Fjelberg.

• Tjærand's farm name extension as part of the name given in his marriage record corresponds most closely to Bjøndalen in Grindheim, Etne. No birth record could be identified for him in the Grindheim (or other subparishes for Etne) for 1760-1762.
