William Fletcher was a cordwainer -- a worker in cordovan leather, especially for shoes. He was born about 1645. 1672 His age was stated on 20 November 1672 at Accomack Co, VA. Deposition of William Fletcher aged about 26 years.[1]
In 1699, William and his wife Elizabeth made a gift of property to their son, Matthew, with the provision that the gift pass to Matthew's brother Betterton if Matthew were to die without heirs. The land had been Elizabeth Fletcher's inheritance, from her father Tobias Selvey.
William died in 1710.

25 March 1699. Deed of gift from William Fletcher, cordwainer, and wife Elizabeth, of Accomack County. For fatherly affection, to son Matthew Fletcher. 50 acres left by Tobias Sellvey to his daughter Elizabeth' now wife of William Fletcher.
If Matthew Fletcher dies without heirs, gift is to pass to his brother Betterton Fletcher.
